In collaboration with the Nickle Galleries, Barbara Edwards Contemporary, Calgary is pleased to present a conversation between Ukrainian/Canadian artist, Taras Polataiko, and curators, Elysia Turner-Lechelt and Lindsey V. Sharman. In this Nickle at Noon presentation, the featured speakers will discuss the personal and political context concerning Polataiko's most recent body of work, WAR. 11 PORTRAITS, currently on exhibition at Barbara Edwards Contemporary, Calgary.

Exhibition guest curator, Elysia Turner-Lechelt, completed her BA in Art History in 2012 and is currently completing her MA in Communications and Culture at the University of Calgary. During her employment with MOCA Calgary and later Contemporary Calgary she helped organize numerous exhibitions and events including Andy Warhol: The Athlete Series and Cinco de Mayo 2012-2014.

Curator and educator, Lindsey V. Sharman, contributes an impressive knowledge of art history and current affairs towards the development of contemporary art in Calgary. In her current position as Curator of the Founders' Gallery at the Calgary Military Museum, Sharman programs multiple yearly exhibitions that investigate and challenge viewers' perceptions of war and human conflict through projects by local, international, historic, and contemporary artists. Sharman is also an
adjunct professor with the Department of Art, and President of the Academic Women's Association at the University of Calgary. She has studied Art History and Curating in Canada, England, Switzerland and Austria, and holds a Bachelor of Arts honors degree in Art History from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters of Art in Curating from the University of the Arts, Zurich.
