Robert Enright in Conversation with April Gornik

Barbara Edwards Contemporary is pleased to present Robert Enright, senior contributing editor for Border Crossings magazine, in conversation with American landscape painter April Gornik. Renowned for her re-invention of landscape, Gornik’s paintings and drawings border between mimesis and invention. Responding to both observed reality and imaginative perception, she presents a unique interpretation of the psychologically embedded landscape.

Robert Enright is one of the most insightful and creative thinkers on contemporary culture in Canada. Over the past 20 years, his writings on the visual arts have been among the most valued and recognized in the field. He has served as a cultural affairs reporter for CBC Radio, as a contributor to the Globe and Mail and written for numerous publications including ARTnews, Modern Painters and ArtReview.

Enright is also a Professor and University Research Chair in Art Theory and Criticism in the School of Fine Art and Music at the University of Guelph. In 2005 he was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
