STEVE SMART & TIM ZUCK IN CONVERSATION
Saturday April 24, 2010 @ 1pm
Barbara Edwards Contemporary is pleased to present prominent art curator and collector Steve Smart in conversation with artist Tim Zuck, as part of the BEC Lecture Series, a forum for discussion on exhibitions and issues in contemporary art. This discussion will focus on Zuck's current exhibition on show at the gallery until May 1st. Zuck's abstractions are deceptively simple on the surface; upon focused looking they reveal complex formal relationships that underscore the process of perception. Zuck has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally. His works are held in private collections, corporate collections and public institutions.
While a partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, Steve Smart amassed and curated one of the finest corporate collections in Canada. In addition to curating, he has served as director on the advisory board for art institutions, such as Visual Arts Ontario, Gershon Iskowitz Foundation and Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art. He served as a member of the acquisition committee for the Art Gallery of Ontario and is currently on the advisory board of the Doris McCarthy Gallery.
As a longtime supporter and collector of Zuck's work, Steve Smart's contribution promises to be an insightful and personal view into this exhibition.
Reception to follow.
Please RSVP by April 22, as space is limited.
