Barbara Edwards Contemporary is pleased to present our first solo exhibition by celebrated Canadian/American artist Tim Zuck. Recognized for his subtle and visually compelling body of work, Zuck’s images move between realism and abstraction in ways that elude definition.

In this exhibition of recent works, Zuck’s abstract paintings and drawings are deceptively simple on the surface; upon focused looking they reveal complex formal relationships that underscore the process of perception. Zuck’s process is intense, each piece is meticulously re-worked until the desired effect is achieved. Rich tonal fields hold geometric shapes between gravity and buoyancy, expansion and contraction. The resulting forms are condensed and lucid, inviting moments of private resonance.

Tim Zuck has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, including the internationally touring Tim Zuck: Learning to Talk (2002-3) and Tim Zuck: Still Life in Landscape (1997-8). His works have been exhibited by: the National Gallery of Canada; Art Gallery of Ontario; Justina M. Barnicke Gallery, Toronto; Art Gallery of Nova Scotia; Yukon Arts Centre Gallery, Whitehorse; Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff; Back Sang Gallery, Seoul, Korea; Expo ‘93, Taejon, Korea, and the Canadian Embassy Art Gallery, Tokyo, Japan.

His works are held in numerous private collections and public institutions including the National Gallery of Canada, Canada Council Art Bank, Glenbow Museum, Art Gallery of Hamilton, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Vancouver Art Gallery,
