TIM ZUCK
15 FEBRUARY to 30 MARCH, 2013
Barbara Edwards Contemporary is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work by Tim Zuck. Inspired by everyday contemporary images, Zuck deals with high/low culture themes, claiming no hierarchy. Using sources from his immediate surroundings, Zuck explores the graphic styling and austerity of commonplace objects, transforming the mundane into the iconic.
Zuck earned a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. He has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, including the internationally touring Tim Zuck: Learning to Talk (2002-3) and Tim Zuck: Still Life in Landscape (1997-8). His works have been exhibited at the MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie; Museum of Contemporary Art Calgary; Art Gallery of Ontario; Art Gallery of Nova Scotia; Yukon Arts Centre Gallery, Whitehorse; Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff; Back Sang Gallery, Seoul, Korea; Expo ‘93, Taejon, Korea and the Canadian Embassy Art Gallery, Tokyo, Japan.
Zuck's works are held in numerous private collections and public institutions including the National Gallery of Canada, Canada Council Art Bank, Glenbow Museum, University of Lethbridge, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Vancouver Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Museum London and Art Gallery of Ontario.
